Society of Overseas Nepalese Entomologists (SONE)
Society of Overseas Nepalese Entomologists (SONE) is a professional organization that serves the professional, scientific, social, and cultural interests and needs of the individuals from Nepalese origin working in the area of entomology and other closely related disciplines. This organization has been established in 2009 within the network of Entomological Society of America (ESA). Anyone who has interest in networking with Nepalese entomologists can join this organization. Nepalese professionals of Entomology and closely-related fields are eligible for SONE membership regardless of their current place of residence.
The major goals of SONE are to promote:
- Collaboration among SONE members and with members with other organizations
- Sharing of knowledge and resources
- Disseminaiton of Entomology and other plant protection related information
-Contribution to the Entomological science and to the society

Award nomination for 2024We are pleased to announce this year’s Megha Parajulee SONE Student Award for Academic Excellence 2024. The award will be presented to one accomplished Entomology graduate student (M.S. or Ph.D.) of Nepalese origin overseas or any graduate student doing entomology-related research in Nepal. We will announce the winner a few weeks after the submission deadline and the award will be presented during the SONE-Organized Meeting in 2025 during the Annual EntSoc meeting or delivered as per the awardee's request. The complete nomination package can be emailed to the Megha Parajulee SONE Student Award Selection Jury 2024 at the following email addresses: Dr. Govinda Shrestha ([email protected]), Dr. Sujan Dawadi ([email protected]) and Dr. Sabita Ranabhat ([email protected]) and cc to SONE ([email protected]) by November 20 11:59 PM ET 2024.
Award nomination for 2020Award selection committee for "Megha Parajulee SONE Student Award for Academic Excellence" has announced the nomination process for the current year-2020. All entomology/ecology graduate students of Nepalese origin are eligible to apply. The deadline for sending the completed nomination packet is October 2, 2020, 11:59 PM PT.
