Executive committee and all SONE members would like to thank Dr. Megha Parajulee, Professor of Entomology-Texas A & M University, for his kind contribution to the SONE for establishing an esteemed award for graduate students. Dr. Parajulee is the founder of Society of Overseas Nepalese Entomologists (SONE). This award is awarded annually during the ESA meeting to one Nepalese graduate student who has an excellence academic performance in the field of Entomology/Ecology. Previously known as 'SONE Graduate Student Award' is now renamed as "Megha Parajulee SONE Student Award".

For the first time, SONE has announced a graduate student award which will be presented during SONE general meeting during the Entomological Society of America annual meeting (Nov. 16-19, 2014) in Portland, Oregon. Graduate students, please apply for this award before Oct. 2014, 12:00 PM ET. Please follow the guidelines outlined here
Dr. Bill Reisen, now a professor emeritus with the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology (PMI), School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California-Davis will be speaking in SONE-2014 symposium during ESA-Annual meeting, Portland, OR. He will share his experience of working on public health aspects in Nepal during late 1980s. Details about his long career in mosquito research and public health aspects can be found here.
Jhalendra Rijal, a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC-Davis received a regional IPM award from the Southern Region IPM Center for his PhD work. Congratulations Dr. Rijal for his outstanding performance!!! Here, you can read about his work on IPM.

Sandipa Gautam, an active member of SONE (former Treasurer) has graduated in December 2013 with a Ph.D. in Entomology from Oklahoma State University. Her dissertation was about “Circumventing Ovicidal Deficiencies of Fumigants During Postharvest Fumigations”. She received Graduate Research Excellence Award 2014 awarded through OSU for her dissertation. She is currently employed as a post-doctoral fellow at Oklahoma State University. Congratulations!!!
We are very pleased to announce this news that SONE-symposium, "Society of Overseas Nepalese Entomologists’ Symposium: Linking the World Through Entomological Works" has been accepted for the annual meeting of ESA (Nov. 16-19, 2014 in Portland, OR). We have very experienced speakers who have contributed in various aspects of entomological works to Nepal and other developing countries. We are also planning to organize some additional exciting events during the meeting.
